Hello everyone! Happy Monday! Today I will be talking about men and purses/handbags. It’s been a hot topic for a while and my question to you is : Do you think men should be able to wear handbags without any judgement?
Personally, I LOVE to wear handbags and I adore every piece that I own. I love the designs and I appreciate the craftsmanship of each item. So my obvious answer is YES! However, I believe that you will always be judged on what you wear or what you do. That being said, if you’re a male and you’re reading this, go ahead and rock that purse, because whether you do or whether you don’t, you’ll still be judged no matter what.
Honestly, the trend has been growing immensely since more and more millennials are open to self expression and debatable discussions. More male celebrities and social media stars image themselves with Birkins, Louis Vuitton’s and Chanel’s, thus building this facade of glamour and beauty. And when we see that, sometimes we want to be like them or we feed off their style. It’s nearly a norm to see a guy showing off a handbag made for women, but I noticed I still get weird looks from and I’m sure I’m not the only one who experiences some glaring eyes form time to time.
I have seen all men on the spectrum use purses/handbags. We all need something to carry our belongings and personal items. And if your choice is a man bag or purse, I say go ahead and do you. Whether you’re a gay man wanting to use a mens briefcase, a straight guy wanting to use a Longchamp, or a lady obsessed with a mens Hugo Boss messenger, then go ahead! Whatever makes you feel confident, and as long as you’re not forcing yourself to like the product, then go and use that bag! I honestly don’t even understand why this is a topic in the first place. But of course, like I said before, we will always be judged on anything and everything.
I am sometimes surprised as well to see that certain styles of handbags made for women look 10 times better on a man than a woman. For example, I think the Speedy looks amazing on men, especially the Speedy Bandouliere with the strap.
Sometimes I wish that some brands would market their bags using a male model. I’m not 100% sure if that would help or harm their sales/image, but if a brand wants to stand for something else, that would be a great way to go. I don’t want to get into equality and things like that here, however.
So if you’re reading this, and whether you’re a male or female, you should be entitled to wear whatever you want. If it fits your style and you absolutely love the brand and appreciate the workmanship of the handbag, then make that purchase. I can’t stress enough about the importance of loving yourself enough to know what you deserve…So a something like a handbag should be the last thing to stress out about.
if you agree or disagree, I’d enjoy to hear to hear your thoughts. Do you care or not? How do you feel when you see a man using a Neverfull? As always, thank you for reading & liking my posts and I hope you follow along on my blog journey!
